You have the exciting challenge of working with cutting-edge research and technology. Join the team behind the development of the Cardano blockchain. Our team specifically is responsible for advancing Cardano’s ledger, maintaining its security, scalability, and overall architecture.\n\n * Write high-quality code, working with cutting-edge research and technology to implement features like protocol rules and transaction validation\n * Work with teams across multiple time zones in Europe and America.\n * Be proactive, work independently and require minimal supervision or mentoring to complete tasks\n * Collaborate with other teams on integration issues and problems that span a greater context\n * Review specifications produced by formal methods specialists\n * Commit often and submit small pull requests frequently\n * Cover your code with unit, property and integration tests\n * Review the pull requests of your team mates\n * Fix bugs in your own code and in legacy code from others\n * Be available for emergency fixing of severity 1 issues on deployed products\n * Integrate software components and third-party libraries\n * Write clear documentation with sensible examples\n * Communicate with others professionally, effectively and efficiently.\n \n\n\nWho you are:\n * Degree in Computer Science is desirable but not essential  \n * A minimum of 5 years development experience (professional or otherwise) in Haskell.\n * Strong experience at writing code in the declarative programming paradigm.\n * Experience working with Git and Github\n * Experience with nix is preferred, but not required.\n * Proficiency with advanced FP techniques such as: \n * Type families, Higher Kinded Data, Dependent types, Generic programming, Type-level programming, Free monads\n * Good understanding of evaluation strategies and related concepts: call-by-need, lazy evaluation, memoization, weak-head normal form vs normal form. Capable of identifying and avoiding space leaks.\n * Experience with serialization techniques in Haskell using any of the common libraries: cborg, serialise, store, flat, binary, etc.\n * Advanced level understanding of pure functional data structures and Haskell libraries that provide such functionality: containers, vector, bytestring, etc.\n * Comfortable using other common Haskell libraries such as: crypton, random, transformers, mtl, lens, conduit, persistent, aeson, etc.\n * Skilled at writing QuickCheck/Hedgehog generators and property tests.\n * Familiarity with common testing frameworks like HSpec or Tasty.\n * Capable of analyzing performance using common tooling like profiling and writing benchmarks\n * Experience with low level programming, such as dealing with foreign function interfaces and using primitive operations in Haskell is a plus, but not required.\n * Write idiomatic Haskell code that satisfies the acceptance criteria of a given task\n * Write tests (unit tests, property tests) that provide sufficient and non-superfluous efficient code coverage.\n * Document code and APIs concisely and unambiguously\n * Break down tasks into subtasks that are completable in a short amount of time and report completion as required by managers\n * Pragmatically adhere to software engineering principles (modularity, incremental development, no premature optimization, no feature creep, no speculative generality, no code duplication …)\n \n\n\n * Remote work\n * Laptop reimbursement\n * New starter package to buy hardware essentials (headphones, monitor, etc)\n * Learning & Development opportunities\n * Competitive PTO \n \n\n\nAt IOG, we value diversity and always treat all employees and job applicants based on merit, qualifications, competence, and talent.
