Acorns is seeking a Sr. Product Designer to join our dynamic team. You’ll work closely with your team on every stage of the product development process; from ideation and concept to strategy, UX, and visual design. You’ll work with other design team members to help flush out new features as well as work directly with our CEO and other stakeholders to address design changes and improvements throughout our apps and products. Candidates should be comfortable with design software like Figma and have experience, and a passion for, working on consumer apps and digital products.
Acorns is a remote-first organization, offering the flexibility to work remotely while providing optional access to office space in Irvine, CA.
Key Responsibilities:

Product Expertise: Understand product goals and objectives, translate requirements into actionable design solutions, and address user pain points while contributing to the company’s key performance indicators (OKRs).

Collaborative Execution: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers and engineers, to design and deliver user-centered features and functionality across multiple platforms.

Solution Presentation: Develop and present thoughtful, innovative, and user-focused design solutions that enhance the customer experience. Clearly articulate design rationale to stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding.

Research-Driven Design: Advocate for and incorporate user research into the design process. Share findings to inform product development and refine solutions. Must be comfortable with running live A/B experiments and contribute to research strategy

Team Collaboration: Actively participate in design reviews, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the team. Serve as a design advocate across the organization..
What you will bring to Acorns:

Proven Experience: 5+ years of experience in Product Design, UX/UI Design, or a related role, with a demonstrated ability to deliver impactful user experiences

Design Proficiency: Strong understanding of design principles and best practices, including typography, desktop/mobile UI, color schemes, layout, and iconography. Skilled in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite

Portfolio: A robust portfolio showcasing your ability to design and deliver impactful, user-centered solutions across digital products.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively to team members and stakeholders.

Design Systems: Experience working within and contributing to a design system to ensure consistency and scalability in your design outputs.

What you will do at Acorns:

Familiarize yourself with our design language and existing products
-
Meet and get to know your fellow Design teammates, as well as key stakeholders you’ll be working with

Collaborate with other designers on your first projects

Work on multiple aspects of the product

Help refine and improve our existing products

Work with multiple members of the team across Design, Product, and Engineering

Present at design demos and work through feedback

Be comfortable with all parts of our products and features

Have contributed to multiple product and feature releases

Helped optimize multiple products and features based on user feedback, stakeholder feedback, user testing, and product experiments
What you will bring to Acorns:

5+ years experience designing user-centric product experiences

Experience working on customer centric consumer products
-
Experience melding thoughtful user experiences with beautiful user interfaces

Good interpersonal communication (both written and verbal)

Experience designing for mobile devices and web applications

Knowledge of the Figma and/or Adobe Creative Suite

Good organizational skills

Compensation Information:
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $174,000 – $205,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, equity grants, and discretionary cash bonus awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
