Sr Backend Engineer | Remotive
Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Backend Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in WordPress, PHP, API development, Python, MySQL, and Amazon Web Services (AWS). You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend systems that support our web applications and services.
As a Backend Engineer, you will work closely with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure high-performance, scalable, and secure solutions.
- WordPress Development:
- Customize and optimize WordPress themes and plugins.
- Develop custom WordPress plugins to extend functionality.
- Improve the performance and security of WordPress-based platforms.
- PHP Development:
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable PHP code for backend applications.
- Troubleshoot and debug PHP applications.
- Work with frameworks like Laravel (if applicable).
- API Development & Integration:
- Design and develop RESTful APIs for internal and external applications.
- Integrate third-party APIs to enhance system capabilities.
- Ensure API security, performance, and scalability.
- Python Development:
- Develop and maintain backend scripts and automation using Python.
- Work with data processing and API-related tasks in Python.
- Database Management (MySQL):
- Design and optimize MySQL databases for performance and scalability.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries.
- Perform database maintenance and backups.
- Cloud & AWS Services:
- Deploy and manage applications on AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, etc.).
- Implement security best practices in cloud environments.
- Monitor and optimize cloud services for cost-efficiency and performance.
Requirements
- 6+ years of working experience as a Back-End Engineer
- Proficiency in PHP with experience in WordPress development.
- Strong knowledge of API development (RESTful and third-party integrations).
- Experience in Python for backend scripting and automation.
- Expertise in MySQL database design, queries, and optimization.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, etc.).
- Understanding of version control systems (Git).
- Ability to write clean, scalable, and well-documented code.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience working in agile development environments.
- Familiarity with Docker and containerized environments.
- Experience with GraphQL APIs.
- Knowledge of server-side caching techniques (Redis, Memcached).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
