Compensation
Starting Base Salary Range: $80,000 – $89,000

What You’ll Accomplish

- Design and refine user experiences: Create intuitive, engaging, and user-friendly experiences that streamline user flows and adhere to UX best practices.
- Ideate UX solutions with impact and efficiency: Support product squads with UX research, wireframing, rapid prototyping, and information architecture exercises to support the design process, leading to the development of impactful UX solutions that solve user problems.
- Develop UX design deliverables: Produce user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes using Figma.
- Collaborate effectively: Work closely with product managers, developers, design leadership, and the design team to ensure a cohesive experience across platforms (web and mobile).
- Design Review: Engage in regular presentations and design reviews with design and product leadership throughout the design process, showing work early and often, and incorporating feedback into further design revisions until handoff.
- Participate in user research: Gather user feedback through usability testing and research, iterating on designs to continuously improve the user experience.
- Optimize for performance and accessibility: Create user interfaces that are visually appealing, accessible, and optimized for performance across all platforms.
- Collaborate to maintain and enhance the design system: Contribute to and maintain the design system, ensuring consistency across the entire Discogs ecosystem.
- Exercise design thinking: Exercise a human-centered approach to problem-solving and innovation, understanding the needs of users, challenging assumptions, and creating innovative solutions through iterative processes including prototyping and testing.
- Champion design excellence: Strive to improve Discogs’ user experience in both function and form, making a commitment to continuous improvement, and ensuring that every interaction contributes to a seamless and valuable user journey while advocating for diversity and inclusion.
- Elevate Discogs visual design: Incorporate Discogs’ new brand identity and the latest UX design trends to create a visually appealing and modern interface.
- Responsive design: translate and optimize design solutions effectively for impact and usability any screen size.
Requirements
What You’ll Contribute
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university, or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years related work experience (design experience)
- UX Expertise: Deep understanding of UX principles, user-centered design practices, and interaction design.
- Design Experience: Proven experience as an UX Designer with a strong portfolio showcasing design projects (using Figma).
- Design Skills: Expertise in crafting user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups.

- Collaboration and Communication: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Accountability: Deliver projects on time and in-scope, manage multiple projects, and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and a passion for designing beautiful, modern, and user-friendly experiences.
- Strong foundational design skills: Demonstrate sound decision making regarding typography, color, scale and proportion, form and shape, visual hierarchy, and overall composition that reflect strong visual communication and effective problem-solving.
- Accessibility Advocate: Working knowledge of accessibility standards or enthusiasm to learn and implement them.
- Design Tools: Demonstrating strong working knowledge of Figma and aptitude to expand skillset.
Team Specifics
- Knowledge of music discographies to improve product information architecture for discovery: Design interfaces for music discography pages, ensuring effortless navigation across search, product pages, and user flows.
- Optimize UGC content management for enhanced contributions: Refine the user interface and workflows for music data contributions, improving information architecture and categorization to streamline database growth.
- Understand the user needs of music buyers and record collectors: Conduct in-depth research to understand the unique needs of diverse buyers ranging from music superfans to hardcore record collectors.
- Elevate the shopping journey through modern UX principles: Implement streamlined information displays, personalized recommendations, advanced search and filtering, and strategic merchandising to create a best-in-class shopping experience.
- Craft a visually compelling and brand-aligned interface: Apply Discogs’ updated brand identity and contemporary UX design trends to modernize the discography and shopping experience, ensuring a visually engaging and cohesive user journey.
Preferred
- Experience with design systems and atomic design principles in design for e-commerce and/or inventory systems, cataloging, dashboards, collecting and/or music platforms.
- Familiarity with interaction design.
- Basic knowledge of front-end development (HTML/CSS).
- Passion for music and knowledge of record collecting.
